Welcome to Navigators

Navigators is a dynamic and child centred Alternative Education & Nurture Provision supporting children and young people across Greater Manchester through a nurturing and growth mindset approach. We use the power of “Yet” to re-engage and motivate children and young people in their lifelong learning journey.

We recognise the individuality of the students we support and this is highlighted in a thoughtful and insightful curriculum and a programme of engaging and motivating activities to support learning.

Navigators has carefully designed a number of unique nurture based academic, vocational and employability programmes to meet the needs of our learners as we strive to prepare them for the next stage of their learning.

Our Navigators Level 1 in Personal Development course, aligned to national curriculum PSHE & Citizenship, has been designed to meet the individual specific needs of our learners and is based around the three critical strands a child or young person needs to function with their peers, in their community and in school.

These strands are:

  • Health & Wellbeing – Healthy body healthy mind
  • Relationships – Positive, multicultural and a cross section of society
  • Living in the Wider World – Developing competency in day to day tasks including, travel, money and independence

Our Vision

To equip young people with social and ethical intelligence, life skills, positive experiences, and academic progress for a good start in their next stage. Navigators is aimed at using individual pupil’s interests and community interaction to engage young people who may be at risk of, or already temporarily or permanently excluded from mainstream education.

Navigators believe the best way to re-engage children and young people in their learning is for them to:

LEARN. DEVELOP. ENJOY

We believe that:

  • Every child is a unique individual with potential.
  • Every child has an entitlement to the best education and support available.
  • The child should be at the centre of decision making and is more important than the school.
  • Children and young people’s voices should be heard and respected.
  • We should nurture the children in our care as if they were our own family.
  • Learning is bespoke and for life.
  • Clear goals make decisions more effective.
